The
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) course is fundamentally a multidisciplinary
course drawing theoretical concepts from different social sciences,
keeping social work values and principles at the core. Social Work is
a profession which aims to help people, communities and societies to
develop their full potential. It has a particular focus on social justice
and on redressing social and economic disadvantage.
Trained social workers reach a wide range of people (children, the young,
old, homeless, unemployed and poor people) who experience social, mental,
economic, health-related and other kinds of distress. in. Originating
in different traditions, social work applies a variety of methods, amongst
them counseling and therapy, group work, social skills training, individual
planning, risk assessment, advocacy, providing services, benefits and
information, community and neighborhood work, etc.
Professional
Social Workers help people with personal and social problems. They help
people access community resources and develop community support networks.
The graduate Social Workers will work with individuals, families, groups
and communities. They will work with organizations and they will develop
and implement social policy. As a BSW graduate, you will be better trained
to practice Social Work methods and skills informed by a solid theory,
practical knowledge, research and evaluation.
