NSSW 8th Foundation Day

NSSW - Kadambari Memorial College and Nepal college of Development Studies - has celebrated its 8th Foundation Day as a Gala Event on September 10, 2012. The function started with seat taking and batch distribution to the distinguished guests. It was followed by formal lighting to panas by the chief guest Dr. Keshav Kumar Shrestha, Director of Curriculum Development Centre, Tribhuvan University, Special Guest Ms. Pratipta Kadambari, Founder Member of the college, and chair of the program Dr. Dilli Ram Adhikari. The other guests form Different organizations and Students, Parents and Members of college cheered the moment.

The Co-coordinator of the function Ms. Samjhana Bhetwal Oli welcomed all the Guests, students, parents and members of NSSW. Then, Kriti Bhattarai, a faculty of NSSW put the achievement of NSSW on its advent of 8th year in plain words and made things up to date. The Graduation Ceremony for 2008 Batch Students of KMC and NCDS was observed with token of love and Khada by Director of CDC, Mr. Keshav Kumar Shrestha, founding member of NSSW, Pradipta Kadambari and Principal, Dr. Dilli Ram Adhikari. Irina Aryal was the Gold Medalist (4 GPA) of 2012 Pass out Batch of KMC and Richa Karki (338) bagged Best Achiever from NCDS.

Dr. Keshav Kumar Shrestha Addressed The mass with pleasure that he has been invited as the Chief Guest of the function. He expressed his happiness as he knew the achievements of NSSW. He further said that the CDC of TU is now Developing a course for MSW and expected feedback and help from Nepal School of Social work also. He appreciated the practicality and dynamism of the course and national and international linkages of NSSW.

Founder member Ms. Pradipta Kadambari welcomed everybody present there and shared the hardship of the early days of NSSW. She expressed that the college has been fully committed to strengthen higher education in social work in Nepal. The college has been successful in establishing linkages with international social work institutions for partnership in technical collaboration to standardize the social work education. From the partner organizations, Kumar Vaidhya of Paricharya Samaj addressed the function and wished for the success of NSSW.

The chair of the formal function of the program, Dr Dilli Ram Adhikari welcomed all the Participants for the presence in the auspicious occasion of 8th foundation day. He thanked the founding members of NSSW and reminded the contribution of two special persons - Dr. Balaraju Nikku and Pranita Bhusan Udas to lead the college to present stage. Dr. Adhikari, shading limelight on the importance of Social work Education, said that our graduates must be equipped with needed knowledge in social work, skills, techniques, and methods to provide quality services to the client to empower them for self-help. The professional workers are the vehicle of positive social change, wellbeing of oppressed, and prosperity. He highlighted that he has aimed to produce strong committed creative professional social workers who can create jobs rather than seeking it. He discouraged students for knocking the doors of others for the Job after they graduate, and put their efforts to standardize their skills in social work practice in human service for the wellbeing of the oppressed segment of the society, he stated in his speech.

With the vote of thanks from the Principal the first half of the program concluded and a light snacks with cold drinks was served to the all attendees.

The cultural program (2nd half) began at 12:00. It included group dance, drama, solo dance, jumba dance, Hip Hop, group song, solo song and Bingo. A heavy lunch was served at the end of the cultural program, and a dance party of couple of hours with all students was observed before program concluded. The participants especially the students were very happy and expressed that such program encouraged them to be more collaborative and motivated for further efforts to put for the promotion and strengthening of professional social work education.

All together there were 120 participants in the programs including NSSW students, faculty members, parents, some representative from partner organizations and newly admitted students of KMC.
